How long do you boil eggs for?
I need to make 12 boiled eggs to color for Easter but I have never boiled eggs b4...
How do you do it? How much water? How long, at what temp? Any other advice/tips is much appreciated! TIA, Laurette

Re: How long do you boil eggs for?
What I do is put my eggs (not sure about the amount you're talking about) in a pot with water, bring that to a complete boil (not simmer) for one minute then cover the pot, turn off the stove and let it sit for 20 minutes. I get perfect fluffy eggs every single time this way. (no runny yokes!)

Re: How long do you boil eggs for?
Similar to the pp, I lay the eggs in the bottom of the pan, cover to an inch above them with cold water, bring to a boil, then turn off the burner, cover and let sit for 15 minutes for large eggs. After the 15 minutes, run them under cold water until cool, then refrigerate.
Adding a little salt to the water to help them peel more easily.

Re: How long do you boil eggs for?
Hmm, I cover mine with cold water, bring to a boil. Once boiling, set timer for 8-10 minutes (8 is how I like them with just a tiny bit of mush in the center) 10 is for fully cooked. Then when the 8-10 min. is finished, I place them in a bowl of ice water, then refrigerate.
I will have to try what the pp's suggested, though. It sounds more energy-efficient! Plus, 1-2 of mine usually crack, maybe from being jostled when boiling?

I put eggs in pan cover with water bring to boil for 10 min. I also put half teaspoon of salt in water to keep them from cracking, good luck

Re: How long do you boil eggs for?
I put in the pot, bring to a boil & boil them for 10min(turning the temp down). Then cool them.
Using fresh eggs makes it harder to peel them. Older eggs peel alot easier.
