Is this hurting my baby?

This may sound strange....

I'm 16 wks. I can press on my belly (it's still soft) and feel where the baby is inside. It's hard where the baby is and a different sensation than the rest of my uterus. Obviously I'm not trying to SMASH my kid, but I'm wondering, could this hurt the baby somehow? I'm thinking not since there are still some tummy sleepers at this stage....

Anyway, just curious!

Nope- there's lots of cushioning in there, no worries

Re: Is this hurting my baby?

I doubt it, my midwife really squishes around hard to find head placement in later pregnancy. It's uncomfortable to me but I guess the baby doesn't mind.

that's what I was thinking. It's just really cool to be able to actually FEEL the baby! Thanks!

No, I've thought about it too, but yeah like Leah said, one of my OB's around 12-14 weeks was really pushing the doppler to find the heartbeat and it didn't feel very good, but baby is a-ok!

Re: Is this hurting my baby?

I just had my ultrasound this week, and she was pushing, prodding, shoving, you name it trying to get the baby out of my pelvis so she could get the pics. Finally, she raised my feet way up, put my head way down, and just pushed on her til she cooperated!

I think you're fine.

Re: Is this hurting my baby?

Well I am 27weeks and I can *still* lay on my belly if I want to w/o it being really uncomfortable, baby is laying transverse/sideways so maybe thats why?
I dont really lay on my belly though but Ive tried just to see what it feels like.
I lay sorta half on my side and belly w/o any adverse affects.
I think there's a lot of cushioning between the outside world and where the baby actually is for you pushing on your belly to cause any problems.
I push on my belly sometimes to see if I can get her to react but Id be "hard pressed" (hehe) to say I can really feel "her", I think I feel everything thats around her.
