Morning Sickness and Subsequent Pregnancies

If you had bad morning sickness with your first, how was it for subsequent pregnancies?

I had awful MS my first pregnancy. I lost 15 pounds during the first trimester. I had weight to lose then. I don't now... nursing has brought me down 15-20lbs. below pre-pregnancy weight. Should I try to gain weight in these few weeks before morning sickness starts?

Re: Morning Sickness and Subsequent Pregnancies

I had horrible MS with both, but different exp re-weight.

With my son I still gained steadily despite vomiting, with my daughter I lost a little over 30 lbs the first 20 weeks. Zofran helped me immensely, do you think you could get a RX for it before you have the chance to lose any weight? It's weird though, because my son was only 6,11 at birth (40wks), and my daughter was 7,1 at (38&6d). I was right at my prepregnancy weight when I gave birth to her.

ODD I had MS for 9 months (and gestational diabetes) I gained 36 lbs
YDD I had it first trimester (no gestational diabetes) ummm lost count of how much I gained but over 40

this one...so far just first trimester...I just hit 2nd and I feel great (well with the MS anyways)

I dont' think it's wise to gain just because you MIGHT loose when your prego, unless you are very underweight now...just my

I'm not much underweight now, but I'm 5 lbs under "healthy" weight for my height (and I'm fitting into old pants lol!

Thanks for the advice and stories.

Re: Morning Sickness and Subsequent Pregnancies

I had the most awful morning sickness with my daughter. I was throwing up 8-10 times a day at least, every single day and it lasted until I was like 28 weeks. It was awful. I have thrown up maybe 3 or 4 times total this entire pregnancy and I will be 30 weeks tuesday.

Re: Morning Sickness and Subsequent Pregnancies

M/S lasted until 15 weeks with my first and although I was miserable, it wasn't incapacitating like this pregnancy has been. I'm 25 weeks and I can't go off Zofran without going back to constant nausea/vomiting. Def worse this time around, though as long as I stay on Zofran, I'm ok. In the past month I've actually been experiencing hunger again!

My first I had terrible morning sickness for 6 months plus. To the point that I was hospitalized more then once. My second I hardly had any, 3rd I just got sick once a night like clock work no big deal, 4th I have so far only thrown up 3 times total in 16 weeks. It's so true that every pregnancy is different!

My m/s with DD1 & DD2 were pretty much the same - not exactly a barrel of laughs!

I live on Zofran while pregnant! I've learned a few tricks to keep myself from tossing my cookies. I eat small, healthy snacks throughout the day, take a nap myself when my toddler naps, take my prenatals just before I go to sleep, and I eat a lot of protein! HTH

I had terrible MS with DD. I lost 12lbs.

I didn't have MS at all with DS1.

With DS2, I had some MS when it was twins, but after the second twin stopped growing, I stopped being sick. It was still never as bad as with DD though.
