Any foods to increase my breastmilk production?

I know I am a bit tired these days (traveling) and need to rest a bit. But, my DS needs milk even I am tired and not producing as much milk as usual. I hate to suplement with formula. I really don't want to do that. I have been drinking mother's milk tea (2 cups a day) and use 20 or so drops of herbal tincture (contents are similar to the mother's milk tea) in a few glasses of drink. I am wondering what else I can do to increase my milk production. Any help would be appreciapted! Thank you in advance!

I've always heard to eat LOTS of oatmeal.... haven't tried it myself, so I can't say if it works. You could also try fenugreek (just buy the caplets of it). THAT worked for me for sure!

oatmeal works! Also, stay away from things seasoned w/ sage...it decreases supply.

I know I ALWAYS recommend preacher (boiled) cookies... but they work WONDERS.

I don't add cocoa though...

Here's the master reciepe... so easy... I always set my cookies up in the fridge... and I add more oatmeal... it's a reciepe that you can tinker with..

You could try these:

LACTATION BOOSTING COOKIES

* 1 cup butter
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons water
* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous)

Directions:

Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.

Serves: 6 dozen cookies

Yummy they are! I left out the choc chips. You could also use raisins. I like them plain. I just made it all and froze them in batches so I can make fresh ones when I want. Don't eat too many though. They sure aren't low fat!!

OK, oatmeal for breakfast for sure. No sage, huh? I'll make sure I won't use it for a while! Thanks!

Re: Any foods to increase my breastmilk production?

I tried oatmeal and fenugreek when I was nursing DS (I had gotten REALLY sick with a horrible stomach virus and my supply was wiped out). The fenugreek made mel feel sorta sick but I think the oatmeal helped.

I heard not to use instant oatmeal though---but I don't know if that really matters or not.
