LACTATION BOOSTING COOKIES

* 1 cup butter
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons water
* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous)

Directions:

Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.

Serves: 6 dozen cookies

Yummy they are! I left out the choc chips. You could also use raisins. I like them plain. I just made it all and froze them in batches so I can make fresh ones when I want. Don't eat too many though. They sure aren't low fat!!

I guess I will be very busy making 2 different kinds of cookies tomorrow! Gotta get brewers yeast! I hope one/some of these tips will work for me! Thank you very much, mamas!

Re: Any foods to increase my breastmilk production?

short story b4 I go to bed..yawn..LOL... I stopped nursing due to death in the family... I would only nurse once or twice ...sometimes NONE in one day.. and after two mths of that.. YES 2... I am now nursing my 7mth old.. WITHOUT supplment! No food either!! and this is how I did it..
1.) I drank water EVERY time I thought about water.. about a gallon and half a day.. no joke..
2.) I ate oatmeal for breakfast.. or at least once a day .. till I was sick of it.. after about 4 days.>HAHAHAHA
3.) I drank mothers tea.. along with the tons of water.. about 4 cups a day
4. ) I got him to nurse on me every 30-45 mins.. and let him play with a nursing necklace to keep him busy..
5.) when I did give him formula .. I used the medela suppl. nursing system.. that a momma on here GAVE me for free... ( he hated it..LOL )
6.) I pumped late at night when he wasnt eating.. and pumped during the day.

I am not going to lie to you .. it was sooo hard.. I was literally nursing.. pumping.. fixing tea or water ALL DAY... and it took a GOOD 2 weeks for me to see an improvement..
Now my boobs are HUGE..and I can pump at least 6 ozs at a time... ( when I started .. I didnt get a drop )
It takes time.. but you can do it.. I had hardly any supply left.. and I did it.. you can too!!!!

that wasnt so short LOL

Before I went to visit my in-laws (almost 2 weeks ago), I was pumping everyday (2-4 oz) and kept that for my DH to feed our baby for the next morning. My milk production was good then. I didn't feel like I was neither producing enough nor over-producing. But, since the beginning of the second half of the visit, I started noticing the decrease of my milk production. Since I got back, I have been trying to pump during the day to stimulate my milk production, but no luck. I am drinking lots of liquid (water, tea), more than 1 gallon a day for sure (I have been doing this since the day 1). I will try all of the tips I got from other mamas (esp. oatmeal cookies! ). If my milk supply can come back within 2 weeks, that would not be bad! Thank you very much for sharing your tips! I will keep trying these for AT LEAST 2 weeks!

Re: Any foods to increase my breastmilk production?

Is there a reason why you think you are not producing enough, i.e. does he not seem to be satisfied? The reason I ask is that eventually your milk supply is supposed to cutback to the amount that your baby needs. With my first two dd's, I would start off with huge boobs (a full A-cup for me!) then after a couple of months and solids they would become empty but functional A-cups I never bothered pumping or anything so that could be the difference. Just enjoy it and don;t worry about the volume unless you actually don;t have enough for him.

~Drink a TON of water. Try for 8 oz every time that you nurse.
~Homemade oatmeal cookies. I had to stay away from them as they engorged me-they really work!
~Stay away from caffeinated beverages-they dehydrate you. (you may already be doing this)
