Gas cards are definitely good, we drove to back and forth to the hospital an average of twice a day, sometimes more.
As for preemie clothes, our nicu had a good stockpile of clothes the little ones and I was worried if I had my own clothes a nurse might end up tossing them in the hospital pile.

What I longed for during our nicu stay was some good home-cooked food. I got so tired of alternating between McD's, BK, Wendy's and Chipotle that just some spaghetti & meatballs with garlic bread really hit the spot. That is my recommendation.
