prefold diaper best material???

I am so dissapointed. I ordered 12 chinese prefold diapers made with 100% birdseye cotton and just got them in the mail (from ebay seller) they are brand new haven't been prepped yet.
The reason I am dissapointed is because I wanted the ones like the diaper service uses.. soft and thick cotton. These are thick but they are like "weaved" or something. Not a flat soft cotton. Does anyone know what I mean? What kind should I have ordered?

Birdseye fabric is not smooth and flat but has a texture to it like this:

Most prefolds used in a diaper service are cotton twill. This is the flat smooth fabric you are probably thing about.

are you sure it isn't looking weird because they haven't been prepped yet (DSQ prefolds will quilt up after they are prepped)?

Re: prefold diaper best material???

I know they will look different when washed, but I don't think they are what I wanted. I think I should have gotten the cotton twill. It's almost like these birdseye ones have little holes in it. The ones I used years ago from a diaper service place looked like the twill photo posted above.
Should I send these back or will they work well anyways?

I would send them back or sell them on craigslist (prefolds are so cheap, but expensive to ship). Seriously, prefolds are such great workhorse diapers that you should get the ones you really want!
