Heartburn HELP!

I can't stand TUMS...what other alternatives are there to help?
I can't figure out what triggers it.
I had it early on in pregnancy and now today (19 weeks) I'm miserable again.
I so can't deal with this again.

Re: Heartburn HELP!

well, w/ #1 i only got heartburn towards the end, & Pepto worked fabulously. w/ #2 i had it forever really really bad & i tried everything- finally used the Pepsid chewables- they disolve fast & taste minty- i'd just take one when i felt it & it would normally go away in literally just a few minutes.
i've heard some women say drinking a glass of water helps them tons but it would only make mine worse.
hope you find something that works!

Re: Heartburn HELP!

I had the WORST heartburn late in my pregnancy!
I ate TUMS like candy - but try milk. It really helps

Re: Heartburn HELP!

I was told by my midwife and OB that Zantac is safe. I took it daily. I find that Rolaids have a better taste and consistency than TUMS. Milk will not help if you have severe reflux. It does even out the ph if you have a little acid, but it is hard to digest and will cause more acid. Dairy products and fried/fatty foods make it worse. I hope you find something that helps!

Re: Heartburn HELP!

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try Rolaids instead. I had a little flare up today but nothing like the other day when I posted. I can't drink milk it makes me gag.
