Biscotti recipe?

I'm making christmas gift baskets for family, and would like to out some biscotti in to go with the homemade flavored coffee syrup im making.. Ive never made biscotti before, so I need a fool proof recipe, that both men and women would like. I fugured I could fancy it up by dipping half in chocolate or something.

Whats good and easy? Can I freeze it, or do I need to make right before Christmas?

I use this recipe:

It's simple and I like to add nuts and use vanilla instead of anise. DH and the kids LOVE these!

Re: Biscotti recipe?

This is not "true" biscotti, but is very close and the recipe is very easy and versatile; my neighbors and family enjoy them. I've switched up the liquor, nuts, extracts, and added chocolate, all with great results. The only time it ever flopped was when I tried whole dried cherries. They were too large, which made slicing them difficult, and they burned on the second baking, but cranberries worked just fine.

ETA: I've also used coffee in place of the brandy successfully; we don't always have alcohol in the house.

Re: Biscotti recipe?

Ok, I'm making this now. I'm not sure if I didn't put the right amount of flour in or what. My dough came out sooo sticky i couldn't get it off my hands!! Then I added more flour and it was almost too stiff. lol I can't win. They're in the oven now. I'll let you know how they come out!!

Re: Biscotti recipe?

I like this one:

http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/fo...-Biscotti-5817

I cut the sugar to 1 cup, otherwise it will be too sweet. I've made it a dozen times, and it always comes out great!
