If a mama is having a moment of weakness I'd rather her see an ad for a pump than formula. There is no shame in using formula, it supportted almost anywhere. Its much harder to find support for breastfeeding.

And I'll say again that formula advertising violates the WHO code for ethical advertising of breastmilk substitutes.

Re: Similac ads

im more concerned with hospitals giving away free formula like crazy than i am about a little add on the side of my screen. the ad on the side of my screen wasnt what added to the demise of BFing DS, it was the free formula that i had from the hospital that was thrown in the back of the pantry.

I didn't realize a lot of people here weren't familiar with the WHO code.

Which is another violation of the WHO code.

Re: Similac ads

What about the samples ad for parent choice? I think the pampers/huggies ad are funny. But im irritated by the formula ads. And I bf and ff my DD, not that it should matter.

I'm all for the boob and had no idea about the WHO code until a few months ago. I was shocked when I read it- just goes to show how much some people think with their wallets.

Re: Similac ads

i am aware of the WHO code. im also aware that the US pretty much poops on the WHO code and its, sadly, probably not going to change any time soon. whether its against the WHO code or not, its still done. they obviously dont care about the WHO code.

That doesn't mean that we should lie down and take it. Just because the gov't is owned by their wallets doesn't mean we should all be

Re: Similac ads

Frankly, I have no problem with the similac ads. If I were ff'ing, I would want to know what else is out there that may be good for my baby. I see this one as I see any other ad. Too many ads are annoying. But no one ad bothers me just because it exists or is featured on this site.
