Re: When and how did your LO wean?

My YDD didn't wean, I stopped producing, so there was no choice. Tried everything, but I just couldn't make my body produce more.
I weaned my DS at 11m because I'm selfish. I was preggo with YDD and he was a vicious eater. I couldn't take it anymore, especially with my soreness. I would have scratch marks all over my breasts and he would even draw blood!
YDD weaned herself around 16m. She was only nursing at night if she woke up and once in the morning at that point- it was her that set the nursing limit. One morning she woke up and when I tried to nurse her, she looked repulsed. It was very upsetting for me, but funny when I look back at it. She never wanted to nurse again. Well, she seemed to want to a couple time, but I would try and she would look offended at what I was doing.

My son weaned himself shortly after 18 months. Just stopped wanting his nom noms. I didn't encourage the weaning, I still offered the breast frequently, he just became disinterested. It was the right time for us, though. I had lots of naysayers tell me that if I didn't wean him myself he would end up EBF until he was like 10, lol.

My ds is not weaned yet and is about 28 months old. He still nurses at night, too.

Re: When and how did your LO wean?

I voted other because it was really both of us that stopped, not me telling DS no or him refusing to nurse. My milk dried up within a month of getting preggo and DS would get super frustrated at the breast. I knew he wasn't getting any real amount of nourishment and the whole situation just seemed to make us both more cranky. So one day I figured why not try and see how it goes without BFing, he never asked for it or tried to BF and that was that.

Re: When and how did your LO wean?

My triplets before 18 months due to meds I took that reduced milk supply- mom led

My youngest 2 are still nursing.

I think for the poll to be accurate we would need to define child led. In general children do not self wean before 18 months. Usually it is a improperly diagnosed nursing strike. Other causes are those who schedule feed frequently have early weaners, one of the potential dangers of schedule feeding, that is mom lead also. Pregnancy while nursing could also lead to mom led weaning.

All three were child-led between 2-2.5.
