Milk before 1

I have a problem. My 10 month old will not take formula and i have a major supply problem. I am/was taking Doperidone to correct but this and Reglan causes him to have acid reflux. I was up half the night with a screaming baby until against the advise of a nurse i gave him a small piece of Tums. I stopped taking the medication and am mixing formula with the breast milk that i do get He loves yogurt am guessing he would take milk. I just don't now if i should acclimate him to formula just to wean him from it in a month and a half. Did I mention I am an EPer.

Well all I know is that my aunt used Condensed milk and cornsyrup to feed her twins...and my MIL was fed the same, thats what babys were fed before formula was marketed

Please dont use cornsyrup. It can (not always) cause infant botulism.

My now 21mos old dd started milk at 9mos only b/c she stole it from my other dd's sippy cup. Our pedi said since she didnt have a reaction she could have it. Now my youngest is almost 8 mos and tries the sippy cups but I dont think he hasgotten anything out of it at all. But we plan to start weaning around 10 or so months.

Ask your pedi...

me too my supply is not great, but I started giving ds some formula but I am still bfing. Also you don't HAVE to wean him from breastmilk or formula just because he turns one, it's just cost effective for people to wean off of formula although you might want to cut them back so they aren't getting too many calories. The yobaby yogurt is great becuase it's wholemilk so it has fat, all the other yogurt is low or no fat. I would wait a little bit before giving the whole milk though.

I see you are EPing, could you try to nurse or is not possible? That could be why your supply is dropping too.

What is EP? I'm assuming it is something to do with pumping but I've never heard it before?

Re: Milk before 1

I started giving yobaby yogurt at around 10-11 months. DD LOVES it. Started trying whole milk at the 11 1/2 month mark to make sure we'd have no allergy problems when it came time to wean. The only problem there was DD decided she lilked whole milk better than BM, so she weaned a little earlier than I'd planned on. Oh well, live and learn.

I think its okay since he is 10 months old. If he won't take formula I say give him the milk. I'm sure if you ask your ped they would say the same thing.

Re: Milk before 1

On another board I'm on, alot of Moms have switched to milk earlier than a year. I switched Ethan at 11 months b/c we all had this stomach bug and he couldnt have any dairy, so after he was done I figured it was a good time to switch. He loves organic whole milk so it was pretty easy.
