Question Did any of you NOT lose weight while nursing...

Just curious, did any of you NOT lose a lot of weight while nursing, but then once baby weaned the weight came off quicker and/or easier??

Anytime I lose weight, my baby acts like she is not getting enough milk. So I still need to lose most of the pg weight.

Re: Did any of you NOT lose weight while nursing...

I feel your pain!!

I still have quite a bit of weight to lose, and I am not lazy by any means (is that even possible with 5 kids all 6 & younger?? lol) nor do I spend my days eating junk food. But I am having the roughest time losing weight. I am guilty of eating like a pregnant woman, because I still find myself hungry a lot... but I definitely pick healthy choices w/ lots of protein. And I am fairly active, as well.
Yes, I could eat better and yes I could exercise more... but with that I am already doing on top of nursing, I guess I am just frustrated the weight isn't "falling off" like everyone says it should. Apparently not all of us are that lucky!

That is me. I lost about 30 of the 40 lbs I gained during pregnancy the first 3 months and nothing else will come off. Every time I start dieting she gets really fussy and gassy. I am hoping now that she is 1 and I am trying to get her to eat more food I can start dieting again.

Re: Did any of you NOT lose weight while nursing...

I lost everything but the last 5 lbs within the first few months pp. But that 5 lbs hung on forever. I finally figured out that the more I watched what I ate or when I didn't eat much (I just don't have much of an appetite most times) I actually held onto MORE weight. When I ate a little more then normal the weight came off. Then once I lost the last 5 lbs, probably around 1 year pp, I started retaining water something terrible due to an estrogen deficiency.

I have had 4 kids, and each time i hold onto baby weight until they are weaned. it sucks, but I feel like my body must NEED the extra weight to nourish the baby or it wouldn't be holding onto it.

this is actually very common and once you finally wean the weight is easier to comeoff. I can lose some of the weight while nursing but not all, my body holds some of the weight just in case there is a famine in the land, haha!

Good luck losing the rest of the weight!
