Not to hijack the thread, but I think the OP wanted to know this too - liquid or powder? I'm using Planet liquid now to prewash the diapers, but wondering which one to get in bulk before baby comes - powder or liquid?

Re: What detergent works best in your HE machine?

I just wanted to know which detergent others are using in their HE machines. It doesn't really matter whether it's liquid or powder. I just find that powder tends to work best for cloth diapers in my water than liquid. I can use liquid for regular laundry but I feel that powder gets my dipes cleaner. I haven't tried Country Save yet and it looks like several of you like it. I'm afraid of the fragrance in the Tide HE. I see so many raves about it on here but I'm just too afraid to try it. I wish the Tide Free & Gentle would come in an HE powder form because I can use the liquid form without issues on my boys' clothing.

You could try the Planet powder then. It's recommended for diapers, and has no fragrance. There's an HE version too.
