Disappointment - vent
I decided to take some of our plastic totes out of the garage that held the 0-6 month clothes. I wanted to get a feel for what we have and what I need to get.
I thought we would be pretty well off from the last baby. Boy, was I wrong. ![]() When DD#3 was born, we lived in Minnesota and she was born in late summer - not too far off from our cold fall season. Now we live in Georgia. Most of the 0-3 month clothes are long sleeves and pants and ALL of the 3-6 month clothes are for heavy winter. I can't find any of her preemie clothes (all of my girls have worn preemie clothes for the the first month), and all of the rest of the 0-3 month clothes that would be season appropriate, have this weird yellow staining all over them?? After picking through everything, this baby has 3 onesies, 2 sleepers, one dress and 2 pairs of pants for about the first 5 months of life. Part of me is excited to go shopping for new little girly things, but the frugal part of me is sad that I took the time to buy, wash, fold, sort and hang onto clothes that I can't use again. Not to mention, lugging them all the way from MN to GA! Thanks for letting me vent, I am pretty disappointed over this whole thing.

Re: Disappointment - vent
The yellow stains are actually common. Try a soak in oxyclean. I think I read somewhere that it's the enzymes in breastmilk. Some of our outfits from Abby took a few soaks in Oxi before Ellie could wear them, but I didn't have to throw or give away anything that I loved.

Re: Disappointment - vent
I feel your pain, though. My son was born at the end of October so most of his clothing won't work well for a boy due at the end of May.

Oh that must be frustrating! I feel your pain I was hoping for a girl so I wouldn't have to shop for as much and as happy as I am it is a boy I still have a lot of things that he will need.

Re: Disappointment - vent
Bummer. FWIW, i have NOTHING but girl receiving blankets left (Well, a bassinet and pack n play too) and we're having a boy. LOL.
The yellow stains are prob just from handling them and then them sitting in a tote - I remember reading a few years ago that a lot of moms selling on ebay had that issue and it was oil from hands that sits for a year or more. Should wash right out.

Re: Disappointment - vent
Well I dug thru the girls bin of doll clothes and got out all the NB and 0-3 stuff, then I got out the very small box of stuff I had saved from the boys. Some of it's more boy-ish but I will still use it! I plan to soak it all in oxyclean anyway! Most of the staining should come out when you wash it back up! I found quite a bit for our baby, I am not buying anything except a package of girl-ish gowns (have 2 GN and 2 boyish but I will still use them). I also want some swaddle blankets and maybe a package of onesies, but I am planning to jsut see what all I come up w/ between now and April!

Re: Disappointment - vent
I was going through DS's old baby clothes before we found out we were having a girl, and there were yellow stains all over his clothes too that I know were not there before. Thanks for the Oxiclean tip! Some of the clothes were sentimental, like his going home outfit.

Re: Disappointment - vent
I'm right with you! I had a September baby 2 years ago in Idaho where it was wicked cold. I figure that once this one is 2T we'll be more even but are missing out on TONS of sweet baby things we already have.
