Hands free?

I often see pictures or read about women who can nurse hands free and I was wondering if this is the norm? For me, I have to hold my breast with one hand while my DS nurses or else it is painful for me. It doesn't matter which position we use, if I let go of my breast it feels like he is pulling my nipple (even though he isn't) and it is uncomfortable. Is this normal?

Haha, I guess it isn't normal since everyone is quiet!

I nurse hands free at night or when my back is hurting me (i guess I have horrible nursing posture..?) But we lay down together but it never feels like he is really pulling at my nipple or falling off

Re: Hands free?

I had to hold my breast while nursing for the first few months with my first baby, but after that I didn't have to anymore.

This, only in the beginning.

Re: Hands free?

I am long breasted (my boobs hang down) so I not only have to support, but I also have to lift them UP for him. I usually can only NAK if I'm laying back some to allow gravity to help. I suspect itll be this way until he learns to hold the breast up himself when he's older.

Re: Hands free?

I always nursed hands free. Except in the very beginning because my babies were tiny.
