**UPDATED #319**Requesting ONLY CDing at home daycare.

Hi mamas, I need your thoughts on something. A friend of mine just had a baby and she has asked me to watch him when she goes back to work in a month. I would love to, but my only stipulation is that she has to use cloth diapers, at least when he is with me. Basically im refusing to use sposies.

I will provide the diapers to use here with me as well as washing them. She can bring 1 sposie to take him home in, but while he is here he is gonna be using cloth.

Do you ladies think that this is a reasonable request? My husband agrees with me and has offered to help purchase some NB stuff since not all of our diapers will fit him yet. But my mom thinks that I have no right to ask this of her, even though IMO im not really asking her to do anything and saving her $$ on the sposies she wont need to waste while he is here.

Thoughts?

Re: Demanding CDing at home daycare. Need opinions...

There are some daycare centers that require cloth diapers as well. If you are supplying them, I don't think that she has any reason to object.

My mom was trying to say that im forcing my parenting decisions on her. I see it as I dont wanna have any part of the sposie industry nor do I feel right about adding to the landfill. Basically to me and DH we are sticking by our principles....KWIM?

Re: Demanding CDing at home daycare. Need opinions...

If you want my opinion I think it is out of line to make demands with other peoples children. I think you can make a request and a proposal to her to supply and use them, but in all honesty if you tried to demand something with my kids, I would not want them in your home, that is such a gross violation and disrespect in my eyes

Just my 2 cents,

I say it's your house, if you ONLY use CD's then she can be ok with that or find another sitter.

Just my 2 cents,
I get where you are coming from, but at the same time I refuse to do something that goes against everything I believe in just to satisfy someone else. I of course wont propose it to her as a demand though, that would just be rude.

I think you are being reasonable & you are even supplying them! It's not like she even has to buy them herself. You are actually saving her $$ at the same time. Has she complained about it?

No I havent even told her yet. I was talking to my mom and she said that I cant ask that of her. So I thought I should get some other opinions. Leave it to my mom to make me think twice
