Re: Flat fold tutorials - consolidated (SUPER pic heavy)

I'll put mine in. I just call it my modified, messy kite fold. There are several aspects that were important to me, so I made a fold that fitted my specifications, being:
1. Enough padding in the butt so runny poop doesn't go straight through
2. Wide enough with padded-enough wings so that they fit generously around middle, yet snappi doesn't poke through
3. A lot of padding in the wet zone, yet...
4. Plenty of fabric on the sides to be able to do a great jelly roll.

So here it is. Hope the pics work...

I used a diaper rite large, measuring 28 1/2 inches by 24 1/2 inches, short side parallel to me...

Then, take bottom right corner and fold it so it meets almost to the top middle of the diaper.

Fold this back half-way. This fold-back is making the beginning of your padded center of diaper.

Take the top left corner and fold it so that it makes the "kite" shape, overlapping that corner over the padded fold in the middle like so. The bottom left corner will be sort of messy.

Fold down the top. You now have 5 layers where the bottom sits

Fold the messy corner up a few inches...

And fold it up once more to your desire depending on the rise you need. This makes a nice thick padded area for the wet zone.

Just before I put it on my baby, I'll fold down the back about an inch just to make a "catch" area for poop that wants to try to sneak up and out the back. I jelly roll the sides when I put it on

This has been my foolproof diaper so far. I use it on my 6 month old, and I see it fitting him for many many months to come. Thanks for letting me share!!
