Re: Flat fold tutorials - consolidated (SUPER pic heavy)

Okay, back with a padfold tutorial. These are LL flats with GMD prefolds for size reference.

Start with your flat open in front of you:

Next, fold the rise to your desired length:
For smaller sizes, I fold both ends up. Here it is compared to a GMD Orange.

For medium sizes, fold one end up. Here it is compared to a GMD Yellow.

For larger sizes, fold one end partially up. You could also fold a smaller portion of the top and bottom down, but I like having a thicker side to put in the wet zone. Here it is compared to a GMD Red.

Next, bring one side to the middle:

and then the other side:

Finally, fold into thirds lengthwise:

And the finished product...
With a GMD orange for size comparison

With a GMD yellow for size comparison

With a GMD red for size comparison

This is how we use ours once finished. GMD yellow in the grasshopper Flip and a padfolded flat in the Butternut Flip.

Re: Flat fold tutorials - consolidated (SUPER pic heavy)

Hey that is an awesome tutorial! I love how we all do things differently because then we can learn from others.

I had been doing mine a little differently but I just tried your way and I like your way better. It takes care of the thick fold over edges in a better way. I also like the orange edge demo, that is a cool way to make the flat small enough.

I had been doing the fold up the rise but then instead of folding each side into the middle, I just folded it in half again so the flat was in quarters and then trifolded that. Ends up a little wider but with a BUNCH of rumply edges.

I like your way better.

Thanks so much for posting!

Thanks! I hate having extra bunchy, rumply edges so I started folding this way lol. I'm a little OCD about diapers looking neat

This thread makes me want to grab those cute little receiving blankets I have in the toy room and give it a go... maybe I'll try it tomorrow.

Re: Flat fold tutorials - consolidated (SUPER pic heavy)

Once again, I find myself back here wanting to play around with my flats. I used to pin, then DS got too wiggly, so I started pad folding. Right now, he's wearing a snappi'ed kite folded GMD. Yay for snappis for babies who hate diaper changes! I'm still hoping that someday he'll settle down and I'll be able to go back to pins, since I love them so!
Oh, and I have some Swaddlebees flats OTW. I can't wait to try them out!
