Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

Virtually all previa's will correct themselves, as the uterus grows the placenta will migrate upwards.

Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

I had a complete previa with DS, although my doc missed it until I delivered. Apparently the u/s tech made a note on my 20 wk u/s, but everyone missed it. I had bleeding throughout my pregnancy and was on pelvic rest throughout. I had numerous u/s by more than one doc and they all missed it (even at 36 weeks when I was bleeding.) The doc said if they had discovered the previa I would have been put on restricted activity and been transferred to a hospital better prepared for the consequences. (I was at a military hospital overseas that didn't have a NICU.)

If it remains complete, they will want to do a c/s and probably suggest doing it relatively early. This is important b/c as you start to dilate, if the placenta is still covering the cervix it can tear away and cause major bleeding (what happened to me when I was 37w4d.) DS was delivered via emergency c-section, and while he spent 9 days in the Italian version of a NICU, he is now a very healthy and happy 5 year old boy.

Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

See this is what worries me. If it doesn't move until late in the pregnancy, and with my history of dilating early, I'm concerned it might not turn out so great.

Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

I'm 15 weeks now and at 13 weeks the u/s showed placenta previa. I'm hoping and praying and Hae everything crossed that it will correct. I'm planning a homebirth and have c-section fears. I've never had previa before that I know of.

Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

Hey there, just another June momma with a previa Mines partial, though.

Anyway, just wanted to reassure you like most of the other ladies have that it will hopefully move. Just take it easy for now.

I was put on pelvic rest until my 28 week follow-up to check the placental position.

I know partial previas have a 90-95% success rate of moving out of the way, but I don't know how much that precentage drops with a total previa (if any). Sending more moving vibes your way!

(FWIW - I found out at 18 weeks with DD1 that I had a marginal previa too and it was up and outta there by my 28 week follow up.)

Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

I am one of the May Mama's with partial placenta previa, I go in a few weeks to check and see if it's moving .

Interesting the pp was put on pelvic rest, I was not. I've had no bleeding though.

I would try not to worry too much, my doc just told me it should move just pray that it does .

Re: Anyone have experience with Placenta Previa?

I'm surprised I haven't been put on bedrest for a complete previa either. I am on limited activity, no sew, no strenuous stuff, and no lifting though.

Are you bleeding, if not there isn't a need.
