What is the BEST washer for cloth diapers?

Okay, it's come down to either switching to sposies full-time, or buying a better washer. So, which is the best washer for cloth diapers? Is there an energy efficient top loader? I'm really starting to hate front loaders. I like that I used to be able to let clothes or diapers soak in our old top loader and I miss it so much.

Anyway, thanks for your input.

I don't know if any one particular machine is best, but I would say look for functions like
-prewash
-soak
-extra rinse (something automatic)
- different agitation levels.
- adjustable water levels

I have a Kenmore top loader that has all of the above and it's great! I'd say the only thing better would be some kind of programmable option that will allow you set everything at once. Although, on the other hand, 'digital' anything means more to break down!

Generally top loaders are better because you can use tons of water. If you do get a front loader, look for ones that had an add water function. There were a few threads a while back about washing machines.

My short answer is that the best washer for cloth diapers is the cheapest one you can find that offers a hot wash and extra rinses. I had an energy efficient top loader that I seriously sold at a loss to get rid of it so I could go back and get a washer with an agitator.

I hate to say any one type of washer will or won't work but for what it is worth, I just ordered another washer to replace my brand new HE TL. This HE TL doesn't have an agitator but allows me to turn off the HE which I thought would allow me to get lots of water to wash dipes in. WRONG! My diapers WILL NOT get clean no matter how many cycles I run. The washer I'm awaiting as a replacement is also a HE TL but DOES have an agitator and allows ME to select the water level if I want instead of the stupid WASHER deciding how much water to add. I have come to find this is very important because washers DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT WASHING DIAPERS!

Do you mind if I ask what washer you are getting rid of and which one you ordered that actually has the agitator?

DH and I are emailing back and forth and it this morning and I'd like to find one with an agitator, but I don't know which ones have it. Thanks!
