Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
Our little ones will be pretty close together, and a couple of people have asked us, "Don't you know what causes that?" My answer so far has been, "Yes, and it seems like we're getting really good at it now!"
That generally closes the conversation pretty quickly.

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
Some people just missed the "think before you speak" advice that they should have gotten at some point. Honestly.... eff 'em. It's really not their business at all and doesn't really matter when or how soon you decide to start TTC. I wish people would understand that. I don't blame you for being upset about it in the slightest!
This is going to be our first and so far no one has really believed that this was planned. I've wanted kids for a long time now and DH has too, so we were planning on starting to TTC right after we got married. Well, we got married July 17th this year, my LMP was Aug 17th (20th for dating purposes because I know when I ovulated from charting) and baby was conceived Sept 3rd. I think it's that darn LMP date that throws everyone off. Everyone seems to think this was an oops because it happened so quickly. I'm just happy we actually DID take a month off after the wedding before TTC otherwise the LMP would have been July 18th! Hugs mama! We should really start a thread of all of the wonderful advice and comments we've gotten so far It might end up being the longest thread on DS!

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
When discussing that we were having #5, my husband said to the nay-sayers "I really can't keep my hands off my wife, and I belong to the 'can't keep it in my pants group'...." I just about died from laughter.

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
I am in the same situation. My babies will be exactly 1 year apart.
I was afraid they were gonna ask if he was an accident, but what's happening is even worse. They assume that it was. And instead of congratulations I get pity faces and condolences!!! Makes me sooo mad!

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
DH & I were married quite a while before we had DS. I had a lot of people ask me in the previous years when we were going to have kids, especially since I was SO OLD! I told a lot of people that although we weren't trying yet, we sure did a lot of practicing

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
My middle 2 are 13 months apart, and while we didn't intend for them to be so close, we were certainly not opposed to it either. I got comments ALL THE TIME and the twins one as well. They are boy and girl, and I had a 13 month old and a newborn and they're asking me if they're twins....REALLY??
And to the comments like "don't you have a TV?" and "don't you know what causes that?" I just say, "Yes, and we are apparently VERY good at it." And to the "hands full" comments, my standard answer is "I'd much rather my hands be full than empty"

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
Ugh, people are just so rude!! I've gotten several times already, "Are you sure you aren't having twins again? You're huge!" When is that ever acceptable to say to someone?

Re: What Makes People Think it's OK To Say That?
This is our third baby in 4 years of marriage. I am pregnant by every babies first birthday. The silliest respons that I have got from SEVERAL people is, "Don't you guys have cable TV up there in TN"? (I'm originally from Florida)
