Do I have a big enough stash ?

Okay so I am going to new to cloth diapering, this baby is due in April, and Ive kind of just been buying diapers and hoping that it will be good, so now its my turn to ask you mommas what is a good stash to have, I plan on washing every 2-3 days (3 if possible) - (also is there anything specific to washing CD's?) besides using the special laundry soap, I am thinking im going to go with DROPPS detergent becuase I can get it pretty cheap . So anyways, heres my list of what I have bought so far!

1 SM FB
6 XS BG
2 AIO Willowbuns sm/med
6 BG OS
6 XS AIO's (cant remember the brand at the moment)
2 SM BG Bamboo
2 SM FB
+ hoping to get 3 more XS FB today from a momma on here. Is that okay or how much more/what size should I get? My babies size were SO off at birth that Im not sure if I will have a small baby or HUGE baby haha (First daughter was 6lb 13oz, second was 10lb 6oz) Please help a new momma out Also any additional info about CD that you can pass along would be great !

Re: Do I have a big enough stash ?

If you want to wash every three days you'll need more diapers. I would suggest getting some prefolds/fitteds and covers to make it cost effective. Also, I had an 8 lber and the BG XS didn't fit for the first couple of weeks and the BG OS is definately way too big. You need some tiny dipes maybe like Bummis Super Bright covers or Thirsties Duo 1. Good luck!

I agree - you need more diapers. I would pick up some prefolds or cheap nb fitteds and covers. IME, the XS FBs will fit almost right away, depending on size, but nothing else you have listed is really a true newborn diaper. You'll be okay if you have a 10 pounder, but if you have another 6 pound baby, you won't have anything that works.

Plan on 12 changes per day, including wash day. So 24 for washing every other day, 36 if washing on the 3rd day. So you need 7 more to wash on the third day, and that's if they all fit right off the bat.

Re: Do I have a big enough stash ?

I think you have a great small sized stash, but after about 12-15lbs you only have 6 diapers that may fit. I would get at least a dozen more OS diapers or mediums if you prefer sized. 2 dozen would be better. That can get pricey but try to buy packages to get a better deal or you can go with cheaper diapers like Kawaiis or Sunbaby. Many like them, but many don't.

I'd also pick up a dozen or 2 infant prefolds with some xs and small covers. You can use the prefolds as pocket inserts later on. You've got a great starter stash though! Begin with what you have and see what you like and go from there.

Re: Do I have a big enough stash ?

Yep, like fallaway said.. you want to have atleast a minimum of 12 CD's for a new born baby so 36+ if your washing every 3 days. The older they get, the less diapers they go threw a day. What I used to wash my CD's was a cup of white vinagar to a cup of baking soda and occasionally 1/4 cup of detergent.. It was cheap and got the job done! Plus it kills the bacteria and the smell, and it doesnt cause build up like other detergents.. so less stripping, yay, lol.

Re: Do I have a big enough stash ?

If you have another 6 pounder you will only have 12 diapers that will fit (the xs aios, I loved my xs bg for my newborns) to start. If the baby is closer to 10 then some of the smalls might fit but even at 10 pounds the OS diapers were still big on my girls. I would get at least a dozen pfs and a couple covers. Little Lions has great pfs and they have a seconds/clearance section with great prices. I loved proraps covers for nb too and you can find those pretty cheap too. I like fitteds for night time so I would maybe get some more of those in xs size as well.

Re: Do I have a big enough stash ?

Interesting, I didn't know the sizing of most of them. BG XS didn't work on my 7.12 DS because they went over the umbilical cord (and still go over his belly button today at over 9 lbs. So those might well not fit from the beginning either.
