Note to self: careful what you wish for....

So. I apparently dropped my mucus plug today. Out of the blue with no warning. Ok, I thought. Im with dh, so maybe the cookie baking set something off... it was brown blood and not terribly much so no worry. Until the cramping/contractions started. So a quick call to OB then trip to L&D.

Suddenly everything was WAY too real. Cervical checks, monitors, busy doctors asking too many questions and being too concerned looking at the readouts. DH frantically looking things up on his phone, shots of stuff that isnt so wonderful and way too much going on all at once. Finally after being released, cautiously, with a serious ultrasound scheduled tomorrow to check the integrity and length of my cervix... there's no question Im pregnant and its going to stick with me quite strongly now.

Everything is good. Baby is strong and active and steady heart. Contractions weren't terribly bad or regular, just enough to kick some reality into me. Cervix is dilated 2cm externally, but the top seems closed and its still fairly long.

So. Yeah. Id rather it hadnt been so REAL today. Im not far enough along for the baby to have been viable if they hadnt been able to stop the contractions.

Too real. Too close for my comfort.

I will be happy with what comes and not say. One. Word. About. It. Again.

How scary! You are in my , hope that the U/S shows a good long cervix and that rest with your feet up result in a much longer pregnancy.

Glad to hear baby is good! Such a scary thing to happen though... wow! I'll be praying for you and your little one!

Oh my gosh! I would have been freaking out! Rest and stay off your feet. Praying that the U/S tomorrow proves to look good.

Kay--in my 7yo ds's words "shuddupstoooopid!" ROFL ROFL break and bake LOL

Seriously, everything is fine. I think it was just a fluke, and we caught things early enough to ward off any progression. The top of my cervix is nice and closed and things subsided. Just a little wakeup call, I guess. Thanks for the prayers, but really, everything is good and this one will probably stay put long after she should be like all my others
