Had a fetal echo today.

I have gestational diabetes, so I am automatically scheduled for a fetal echo. The babies heart looked great and the placenta is working well. I asked the tech to take another peek at the babies gender. She said that the baby was sitting with it's legs crossed and I think she said it was transverse. She didn't have a good view this time either (different u/s tech), and said that she thought it was a girl, but she wouldn't bet on it. She looked so quickly, I didn't even really get to look. So, it seems this baby is a girl, but doesn't want us to know for sure.

Re: Had a fetal echo today.

I had one of those with my DS it was kinda neat knowing they can do that just by u/s.

Do you get another u/s to maybe get another chance to take a peek?

Re: Had a fetal echo today.

Yes, I'll have an u/s around 28-30 weeks, and then possibly weekly at 34 weeks. They will want me to start NST's twice a week at 34 weeks, but I'm going to refuse, and we will probably compromise w/ a biophysical profile u/s once week. I refuse b/c it would cost me $60/week for the two NST's and only $30 for the one u/s. I don't need to add $60/week to my bills on top of insulin, syringes, test stripes, MFM appointments, etc!

Re: Had a fetal echo today.

I had mine on Monday in combo with the other checking, and because of my diabetes, I have to have a monthly u/s to monitor growth. Maybe you might have the same and can check *her?* goods next time?

Re: Had a fetal echo today.

That's too funny! We had a similar issue with DD, her first ultrasound she had her cord wrapped in between her legs. Hopefully during your next ultrasound she will play nice
