Mamas of biracial children...hair help, please!

I have two biracial DD's...ages 18 mos and almost 4. Neither have had haircuts and hair is growing, growing, growing! My 4 yo is at the point where if I don't put her to bed in pigtails or braids, when she wakes up in the morning, she is full of tangles.

Her hair is pretty fine on top, but in the back it's a lot coarser and harder to manage. She doesn't get to wear her hair down at all b/c it's just a big 'fro!

Any tips, or any products I should be using? I need to know the secrets, mamas!! TIA!

The kinky curly products have changed my life! I use the knot today conditioner and the curling custard and it makes a WORLD of difference in dd's curls. Her curls are defined and beautiful for a good 3 days before the frizz starts to set in. It's a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way and it works better than anything else I've ever used. Plus it's organic. I just can't say how much I love these products!

oh my goodness - I hair threads!!!! I can go on and on all day about hair! any kind, but especially curly!

Some other sites you'll love... www.beadsbraidsbeyond.blogspot.com
www.keepmecurly.com
www.hairwithpurpose.blogspot.com (especially for product reviews - they haven't posted in awhile, but there's still a ton of good info there.)

I'm a nut about ingredients in my products, too, so remember that's something to consider when you're deciding what to put on your LO's heads! (hair = head= skin = everything enters the body because skin in our largest organ! not to mention many cosmetics have extra ingredients in them meant to open up our pores and let even more stuff in!)

HAVE FUN!!!!!

I have 4 biracial cuties and we use the CURLS brand products. The kids line is called Curly Qs. The moisturizing spray is a must have IMO.

There are codes for their site at retailmenot.com

Your kids are beautiful! They don't need their hair washed very often. I recommend Dr. Bronners for hair/body wash. We use CJ's BUTTer and spritz in the kids' hair. Fantastic stuff. Don't brush it dry, spray some water on it first and some BUTTer spritz and comb with a wide tooth comb. Keep braiding it up at night. I have one who must have hers braided at night (and at school) or we just have a big mess. My children have beautiful hair anyway, but now that we are using no synthetic products at all in their hair it's even better.
