Re: Mamas of "skinny" babes i need your advice

Brains...
Wow, this is a real zombie thread.

But yeah, as long as your skinny kid is otherwise healthy there is no problem. My ped suggested safety pins to keep his pants up. I adjustable waist pants for toddlers but they need to make them for younger kids too.

Some kids are just tiny. Someone has to round out those lower percentiles, right?

All 3 of my daughters were 6lbs 5oz at birth and all three maintained growth curves below the 5th percentile. Sometimes, kids are just small and that's ok.

My son was like this. The highest he ever made it in weight percentile was 2%. All other developmental milestones were fine. They had us do high fat diet where we added heavy whipping cream, butter, etc. to everything we could. Whole milk, full fat yogurt, etc... At the age of 5 they finally did a stool test and discovered he has pancreatic insufficiency. Basically his pancreas only functions about 5% so he was not getting the fat absorbed like he should. Now he takes enzymes and his weight is going up and he now is in the 25th percentile. He had no real symptoms of anything wrong except weight and constipation issues.
