Ugh sick
I've been going back and forth on getting the flu shot and decided not to - but still worried about getting sick. And now it has happened! I don't think it's the flu, but I'm feeling pretty gross!
I seem to have made it a lot better than it could be by doing neti pot twice a day, sleeping, resting, and drinking lots of gatorade and coconut water. Give me your best tips and tricks for getting through sickness while pregnant! I think the worst of it is just how weak I feel. But Max (yep, he's named) is still kicking up a storm so I know he feels better than I do!

Re: Ugh sick
Aww! I love his name! And I'm sorry you are feeling so rotten. Rest, rest, rest and super hydrate. I don't take any medications when pregnant but I know there are things you can take if you are too miserable (Sudafed and Benadryl) but I'd run anything like that by your OB first. Hopefully it will run its course quickly but really sleep as much as possible and hydrating are about the extent of it. Sorry mama!

Re: Ugh sick
hope you feel better soon! humidifiers help, if you have a sore throat or a cough a spoonful of honey helps, as does gargling warm salt water. everything else you're doing is what I do, too! I feel like I've been sick all month (finally feeling good) so I feel your pain mama!

Love the name!
![]() Ahh...just get plenty of rest and fluids. Saline spray might help for nose stuffiness. Might. LOL. Tylenol if you need it.

Re: Ugh sick
I agree with the rest and lots and lots of water and liquids. Depending on how dry it is there, a humidifier is wonderful. We had a dry spell around the time that DH and I got sick and the warm mist humidifier I INSISTED we go out and buy at midnight was wonderful!!!
I will say this, though it's not good news, is that when I got sick last at Christmas, it lasted a LOT longer than any cold for me normally would have. DH bounced back from it and was fine in 3 days, which is normally what I would do too. It took me two weeks to really start feeling better. Just take it easy for a bit and don't worry about getting things done until you feel better. Just focus on resting and let your body heal. Make someone else deal with everything for a while! |

Re: Ugh sick
If you need to feel slightly human, I've taken Sudafed in with my last three pregnancies without any ill effects (on my OB's okay, of course).
