My friend is TTC. She is taking a womens daily vitamin and folic acid. If (when) she does become prego, is there a reason to stop taking this combo? Does the womens vitamin contain anything, or too much of anything, that should be avoided while prego? Is it missing anything other than the folic acid that she's adding in?

It depends on the exact vitamin she is taking, not all vitamin brands/types are created equal.
I know when I had really bad morning sickness my mw said I could just take some flintstones vitamins just to take something.

I would take the vitamins to her dr just to see if there was anything in it she shouldnt take.
I doubt there is but it's hard to be certain.
Also she can look up some popular prenatal vitamins and compare those ingredients to what she's already taking and if it's compariable then no need to worry or change.

I just take flintstones and folic acid, so I would imagine that she would be fine continuing with that, if she is concerned though she should ask her doctor once pregnant.
