Re: May Flowers Chat Groundhogs day!

Good morning. DD#1 is home from school today, (and yesterday) she has a sore throat and woke up with an earache in the middle of the night. I made an appointment to take her into to the doctor today.
Tomorrow is DD#1 and DD#3 birthday, I hope DD#1 is feeling better tomorrow, or at least by this weekend. DD#2's birthday is Sunday, and we are having a party for all the girls on Sunday.

ETA-- No snow here, it's supposed to be near 70 today. It will be back in the 40's again tomorrow though. I'm glad we can give the heat pump a break though, we been using axillary heat too much (30's during the day, 20's at night), and I'm afraid of the electric bill.

Re: May Flowers Chat Groundhogs day!

Hi ladies.
Not much to report here except cold temps and crazy winds.
They are doing "brownouts" in town today to "keep up with energy demands" so that should be fun, I feel like I can't do anything for fear of the power going out.

Re: May Flowers Chat Groundhogs day!

We live in SD so it's not really an unusual storm, but we have maybe 8 inches of snow and it was -15 when I woke up.

DH had a 2 hour late start Monday, followed by an early dismisal, a snow day yesterday, and a two hour late start today. He is leaving for a conference on Thursday so he hasn't worked hardly at all this week. He is very happy.

I wish I had sleep recomendations, but we just transitioned to a toddler bed from co-sleeping and I just kind of winged it. It was much easier than everyone said, but that's just my kid.

Totally word!
Sorry- I try to be nice, but sometimes I can't. I've been trapped in my house for days with two bored kids and awful weather. I have no niceness left. Also- sometimes I think people need someone to call them out so they can feel more ok about something. I DO NOT let my babies cry- but neither of them were big criers either. But at 14 months- that's manipulation. Plain and simple. It's only going to get worse.

Ha ha, don't worry, Hillary. No offense taken! I know he's too old for this, and part of the reason it's gotten to this point is DH gets up at 5 and it wakes him up, so he would just bring him in bed with me when DS woke up. BUT he's gotten into the habbit of waking around that time now. It's going to be a long, hard, tiring journey, but I don't want to be doing this when I have a NB, that is one thing I KNOW for sure! I was able to find the book you suggested on paperback swap and I ordered it (awsome becaus it's free!!) Thank you for your suggestions though

Re: May Flowers Chat Groundhogs day!

Luv, here is my idea for a 14 month old who won't sleep. I don't agree w/ CIO at ALL for an infant, especially before 1 year. That said, if I were you I would NOT turn on any lights at all when he wakes up. Go to him and tell him it's still sleep time and ask him to lay back down. If he won't sleep in his bed I would let him get into mine (all of my kids did this til about age 2, they would wake up early and if it wasn't too early I would let them get into my bed). A few other thoughts are to re-arrange his schedule. It's a pain to do, but a lot of kids drop a nap around age 1, so if he hasn't already maybe change your napping schedule a little so that he's more tired at bedtime. I would consider the 2-3 hours a nap, and I wouldn't let him nap. I'd start by getting up when he does, then keep him up at least 4 hours, then let him take one longer nap, then stay up until bedtime. It normally takes a few weeks of crankiness to get the new schedule down, but ti's better than constantly being woke up!

Luv - that is exhausting. My 2 year old woke up at 5am for a year after we potty trained him. I would have made him go back to bed...but I lost that fight as his Dad loved the one on one time with him. But I slept!

Hillary, not surprised you haven't been able to go outside. So sorry! But from what I've seen from my windows...KC got hit bad! Many of the nurses have been here for 2 days and are staying until tomorrow.

I got to go downstairs for measurement ultrasound today! It was SO FUN to get out of this room! Babies look good and are measuring only 1 day apart! Their hearts look good and they are movers! Cervix hasn't shortened anymore and so for now they are staying inside and safe. Whew! Got to see Baby B kicking her sister...

Oh my gosh, Cute!

AOTD: no different weather here. I just get daily updates from my Mom who lives in SD. Sounds yucky and COLD!

Not much new here. Work. I really need to get started on my yearly eval, but it's so complicated and painful....bleck!

My babe to be has had the hiccups ALL. DAY. LONG. It would have been really fun, but I've been in serious meetings at work all day, and it's been so hard not to laugh.
