Re: probiotics anyone use these ?

You want the kind that's kept in a refridgerator, that will be the strongest. Also, there is a varying numbers of cultures per capsule: for example, I just looked at mine and it said it has 20 billion per capsule. If it's a low number, you might want to take more than one pill each time, which could get expensive. Forgive me for only giving you half the info, because I don't know the optimum number. I just did a quick search and didn't see a consensus, but saw someone saying that LLL recommends 40 billion per day and Dr. Sears recommends 10 billion per day for thrush. Here's where I read that:

Sorry if I'm not being clear, my baby is fussing on my back and I'm trying to rock her and type. Gotta go put her down..... hope this helps!

I got some at drugstore.com before, they have a pretty good selection.

When my first DS had a recurring yeast problem, a friend of mine brought me some acidophilus powder in a canister, you dip your finger in it then spread some around in baby's mouth. That stuff really helped.

With my second DS, I couldn't get rid of his yeast rash until I applied Grapefruit Seed Extract directly to his bottom. It cleared up immediately.

I take 2 our three at a time every 3 hours when I have an infection.
DD takes Udo's choice infant probiotics in every bottle. you can also dip your finger in it if you BFing. it is my favorite infant blend. Jarrow makes a great adult blend.

My kids get probiotics, too. I started them when DD2 was on abx for her ears and have we continued to use them. They have made my kids a bit, ahem.....gassy. JUST FYI in case you notice the same thing .

We use Natren Life Start that we get from the local health food store - Fruitful Yield. It's refrigerated & produces almost instant results. On our chiropractors recommendation, we've been giving it to DS since he was about a year old - 1/4t mixed into food/drink once a day until poop becomes normal again. She recommended this brand b/c it does not have FOS - most kids probiotics do, apparently - but I can't remember what she said was bad about FOS.

We used them with DD#2 when she was about a month old. It helped her digest without discomfort. I use them now. I should get my kids on them as well.

I take NutritionNow's PB-8 every day (my tummy/digestion is my weak spot) and I feel great. If my kids have to be on abx (which is VERY rare - Gavin has only been on them once and Claire never) I will give them probiotics. There are several brands that make kids' versions (NutritionNow Rhino, for one - we have that one for our kids). I usually sprinkle some into their yogurt everyday.
