How does this sound?

I've never cloth diapered a newborn so I'm feeling a little lost. I loved Loved my dd's stash. So I was thinking for my newborn stash I would just double what she had, but it seems like so much. I only like to have to wash diapers every other day or every 2 days. So it would be 72 diapers in all. Is that too much for a newborn? Will I need that much?

Here's the break down...

12 prefolds
24 fitteds
28 pockets
8 night time diapers

ETA: I usually have smallish babies. My first was 5lbs11oz, 2nd 7lbs5oz, 3rd was 6lb 12oz. and they stay little for awhile. All 3 have been in newborn 0-3months cloths for atleast up to 3 months old.

If you WANT to buy that many, by all means - but you definietly don't NEED that many. I think 36-40 is plenty for a newborn. You have to wash every 24-30 diapers anyways, ya know? I had that many and I went every 2 days in between

Re: How does this sound?

What are you thinking for your 'nighttime' diapers? I think you could get away with a lot less to be honest, but if you want that many, go for it! I went with fitteds and AIOs, and while I liked the AIOs, I could have gone with far fewer and gone with prefolds and covers instead. I liked the AIOs for going out and nighttime but during the day I changed her so often that I used homemade fitteds instead-next time would use prefolds.

I have a newborn and I have 42 diapers in regular rotation, and 10 covers. I also have 6-10 BG pockets for outings. I figure this way I would be able to wash every 3-4 days and not run out as I'm washing them (which has happened to me in the past).

Re: How does this sound?

Thanks for your help. I thought it sounded like an awful lot. Back to figuring out how I want to do this.
