Another Crockpot yogurt question - help please!
I made crockpot yogurt last night, and it thickened perfectly, but it smells kind of like yeast
I don't ever eat plain yogurt, so I don't really know if it's okay or if something went wrong. It tastes like it smells too........I need some help figuring out what went wrong (or if it did). Oh, I used whole pasturized milk with a plain yogurt starter, and added 3/4 cup of powdered milk.

Re: Another Crockpot yogurt question - help please!
Hmmm... Mine didn't smell like yeast at all. Not a bit. Is it possible there was something else in the crockpot that contaminated it? I don't think I would eat it -- I don't know if it would do any damage, but the yeasty thing would bother me.

Contamination is all I could think of as well. The crockpot and everything else was clean out of the dishwasher, but not sterilized. I'm so upset too, the consistency was perfect!

Aw, bummer. I didn't sterilize anything, just dishwasher.... Weird. What starter did you use?

I used a small cup of Stoneyfield organic plain yogurt, so I really have no idea what happened!

So strange. Hope it doesn't happen again. Plain yogurt definitely has a "taste" to it, but I have never found it overly yeasty. Good luck with your next batch!
