Too much lipase causing slow weight gain?

I recently found out I have too much lipase and it was causing my stored milk to sour. Do you think that's why DD is so small? If the lipase basically eats the fat then that would mean less fat for DD, right? She only BFs so I'm not sure if the lipase thing is really an issue or if it affects the milk before it comes out? Any ideas?

I have a ds who is really low to gain as well....not quite16lbs at almost ten months. How did you find out about having too much lipase?

It only affects milk that is stored, not fresh from the tap. I have excess lipase and DS was 90th percentile at 6mo.

I tried to give DD cereal made with my frozen milk an she kept spitting it out so I tasted it. Totally nasty.

Re: Too much lipase causing slow weight gain?

I do not think it should affect your LO straight from the tap. Lipase is a storage issue. I was thinking recently, that it is weird that such an issue would be so common, you would think it would have been selected out over time. But then I though, oh, well of course, people weren't pumping and storing their milk until very recent history! If you just nurse, lipase doesn't have a chance to affect you negatively.
