I know lots of people like this cookbook and have it on their wish lists. Just have to say that this cookbook is not for me! Most recipes are very complicated, or too sugared, etc. I like the info it contains about how to make things like yogurt or meat roasts. But the rcipes are much less helpful than my 1976 Betty Crocker. I am glad I only paid a few bucks at the thrift store!

Which version are you using? The older versions do have a lot of sugar - just modify the recipes - but the 75th anniversary edition is much healthier. I do love the older versions for cooking advice though.

Oh, mine is old. 1964 edition!

Look for a copy of the 1997 or the 75th Anniversary edition. You'll proably like it a lot more. They were remade for the modern cook.
