Exclamation I think my ten mon old is TRYING TO WEAN!!!

I need help mamas.
I love nursing and as of late DS has been pushing me away at nursing time and reaching towards a bottle/cup.

FINE PUMP RIGHT??

No I can't seem to get my breast to letdown while pumping and they only respond to DS's stimulation.

IDK what to do!!!

Now that he doesn't nurse as much my milk supply is dropping drastically and I am really scared that he might be weaning!

What do I do to encourage nursing again?
I tried mother's milk to no prevail.
Should I ask the dr. for a prescription.
I'm so lost!!!

HELP!

You might benefit from taking the bottle/cup away and leave him no choice but to nurse...

He's not weaning mama... It's totally normal at that age for babies to nurse less and go on strike! Keep offering, especially in a dark, quiet room and when he's sleepy.

Hugs!

At that age, the cup is really tempting to littles because they can drink and still play/explore or whatever they were doing. It can lead to nursing strikes. So yeah, I'd take the cup away, too.

Re: I think my ten mon old is TRYING TO WEAN!!!

My twins just turned 10 months. I have yet to give them a cup/sippy. This is part of the reason. Even so, one of them was not really wanting to nurse today. It made me sad because I have a very sensitive supply. It drops super easily. Hopefully, he will be back to normal tomorrow. Anyway, I would just keep offering. Don't give up. These phases are pretty normal.

I've been having the same thing happening with my 8 1/2 month old. I work full time though and pump during the day. I only get to nurse 2x a day during the week, morning and night. It's starting to seem like he prefers the bottle now. I hope he's just going through one of these strikes and not weening himself.

Re: I think my ten mon old is TRYING TO WEAN!!!

My DD went through the same thing right around that age. I'm a full time working mom, so she was used to bottles. If I was around bottles weren't. She got over it after about a week and we're still nursing at 18 months.

Goof luck! And good for you coming for support and wanting to continue!
