Need Opinions--Bottles?

I plan to exclusively breast feed. Eventually I will pump and store some milk for time away, but I am not going to work (so this will be for babysitting situations or possibly to donate if I turn out to be good at this).

That said, incase there are problems with my milk, my husband has an overwhelming urge to feed the baby, or I get hit by a bus on the way home from the hospital I think I should have a few bottles ready at the house. I do have a medical condition that could delay my milk; but I am optimistic.

What brands of bottles do you recommend I purchase? I am thinking I would buy and prep like a half dozen. Is that too many? too few? This is not a money thing, but about having everything ready for first time parents with no help. I don't want to have to stop at a baby store on my way home from the hospital, nor do I want my husband going to buy stuff. [I love him and know him well; he will just buy 6 of every bottle brand and tell me to return the rest].

Thanks for your opinions.

I would suggest Born Free as well. They are super breast-like and were the easiest bottles to get DD to take (I never gave her formula, but brought a bottle of breast milk to church with me every week since we had to be at both services and sunday school).

There are a lot of sales on that brand going on right now. Here are a few different ones I've run across:

nak

we use the breastflow bottles and love them. we gave ds his first bottle at 4 weeks and he has only had 3 bottles thus far. there has been no nipple confusion and he still prefers the breast.

nak and Born Free are the ones I hear most frequently mentioned for their closest to the breast-ness. lol

We used Dr. Browns for DD, but she had bottles of ebm starting around 3 months. I just loved how little air they introduce, and she never had gas problems.

Re: Need Opinions--Bottles?

With my last baby we had major nipple confusion when I had to supplement which contributed to many other issues. I wish I had known about the Breast flow bottles. I never got a chance to try them out so I can't speak from experience but after I saw them I wished I had used them. Another friend of mine with oversupply often pumps and bottle feeds and she also uses the born free!

We used BreastFlow and BornFree - then added some Playtex in the mix (my baby didn't care as long as there was milk coming out of it)

Wish you the best

I just had dh start giving a bottle a day and my lo takes the glass born free the best. I also bought the tommee tippee bottle and he wouldnt take that one. I think its best to try a few a see what works well for your baby.

Re: Need Opinions--Bottles?

My daughter will take Nuk, Playtex drop-ins, ventaire wide or Tommy Tippee. We went through bunches of other bottles in the beginning. She wouldn't breastfeed at all until we switched to the wider nipples. (I had no luck with the breastflow bottles.)
