Gluten Free?

Can you tell me about going gluten free? What were the symptoms in your baby?

My DD is 14 weeks old.. And since the begining has been having allergy problems. I took milk and soy out of my diet and there was really no change. Yet i still keep with it Just in case. But she has horrible poop ALL.THE.TIME. No curds like normal BF poop. just runny. and she cries All the time.

she allergy reactions.. (rashes, fevers, the poop) but i dont notice what i am eating differently..

I just want my baby to feel better.. The drs are ******* (no certain word) and just keep saying maybe its reflux. I really dont think so..

Please help

Re: Gluten Free?

I would schedule and appointment with an allergist to find out for sure. We were having tons of issues when my DD was 8 weeks old with her projectile vomiting several times a day. They put her on reflux meds. When I finally noticed a correlation to me drinking milk or eating chocolate (has milk) then she would puke a ton. And it was so bad that she would aspirate and turn bluish when she did it. They (Drs) didn't seem to bothered by it. She also had horrible eczema. When I finally saw my pedi when she was having a flare up she referred us to the allergist (actually she referred us to the allergist for my other DD who was having random hives). The allergist took one look at my daughter and told us we need to have her tested.

She did test positive for a wheat and oat allergy among dairy, soy, egg, peanuts, peas, dog, cat, banana, etc. The list goes on and on.

We just saw a GI doctor about it and reflux. Because the allergist had put her on a reflux med and it was making things worse. She wasn't throwing up anymore (I have been on an elimination diet for 5 months and she mostly still nurses so she really only gets sick when I or she eats what she shouldn't have). I wasn't convinced that it was reflux so I wanted to see a specialist. I didn't feel comfortable with the reflux diagnosis and giving her meds if she didn't need them.

Sorry for the rambling just want you to know you aren't alone but my point is you should see an allergist or a different doctor if you think she has other things going on and they won't listen. YOu are your child's best advocate and you can't just let what other doctors tell you it is be the answer if you feel differently.

You could try being Gluten free for awhile and see if that helps. I don't know how long it takes to get out of your or your child's system. Are you still nursing? When we gave my daughter a Graham cracker (knowing she has a slight wheat allergy according to the blood test) she started choking, gasping for air and then started to projectile puke about 5 minutes after eating it. And she didn't eat much she only got about an 1/8th of a cracker and mostly crumbled it up so she didn't have much. When I eat too much wheat or oats (also allergic) she gets bad eczema and will spit up more and poop greener.
