Can i get some non casserole main dish ideas

Seems like everything that looks yummy is mixed together and baked. I'm all for casserole type dishes but it seems like that's all I make and if I don't make something like that's it's baked chicken...there as got to be more put there :P
What do you ladies serve?

Re: Can i get some non casserole main dish ideas

I can think of about a zillion pasta and vegetable combinations. I just sautè whatever I've got in the fridge and perch that atop my pasta. Add parm or feta, and we are good to go. I'd suggest enchiladas, but that's basically a casserole-type dish as well. What about stir-fry and steamed rice? My ma got me a rice-cooker several years ago for about $10 and it still works fantastic. If you don't want rice, you could also try couscous or quinoa. That might be something different and fun for the family. A burrito night is always fun and it can be fairly healthy - fresh lettuce, beans, avocado, cheese and salsa. Another idea is beans and rice or other kind of chili or hearty stew. What about burger night? I make homefries and fry up veggie burgers and have salad on the side.

Pasta is really a good way to go if you are looking for something quick and easy (and inexpensive!). And if your family is tired of pasta sauce, I don't blame them. Home made sauce is REALLY easy and extraordinarily tasty (I learned to cook in Italy). Here is a cookbook I like. Even if you're not vegetarian, the recipes are good and you can always add your baked chicken breast as secondo!

spaghetti and meat sauce and then the leftover meat sauce can be turned into cottage pie w/ a bag of frozen veggies and mashed potatoes and also lasagna!

big batch of beans. Can be served with rice, or in tortillas/made into burritos or tacos. And quesadillas.

As you can tell, I really love making one thing and using it over again for something different.
