Acupuncture to help turn a breech baby?

Has anyone done acupuncture to help your baby flip? When did you start? How many sessions did you do? What else did you do?

Please tell me your experience....

I don't have a ticker yet but I am 35weeks today (2/16/2011).

I asked my doctors about suggestions from sites like spinningbabies.com and they laughed at the thought. They only thing they suggested to work was acupuncture or an external version. My DD#1 was in correct position early on and I had a vaginal delivery with an easy recovery so I really do NOT want to have a csection if possible. I won't have much help and having a 1 year old a a newborn while healing from a csection might kill me.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

PS - I'm starting to freak out a teeny bit.

Re: Acupuncture to help turn a breech baby?

I did spinning babies hands and knees and the pelvic tilt one and it worked. I'm surprised the doctors laughed at that but suggested acupuncture. It (acupuncture) was on my list of things to try but it's expensive and spinning babies is free so I thought I would give it a shot first.

How many weeks were you when you tried that?

I'd get a new doctor, or preferably a midwife if you can, they are usually more skilled at turning babies. Spinning babies works. Also, check out Hypnobabies' website. They have a very good success rate using hypnosis to get breech babies turned.

I think I was 34-35 weeks when he finally turned. The hands and knees gives them more room and the pelvic tilt pushes their head down chin to chest to encourage them to roll on over. Some people suggest warmth (like from a hot water bottle) on the lower belly and cold (like from a bag of frozen veggies) on the top of the belly in hopes that the baby will move his head down to the warmer area.

I did spinning babies too at 36.5 weeks. Also saw a chiropractor who did the webster technique as well. Between the two baby flipped.

Re: Acupuncture to help turn a breech baby?

Well I started the Chiro at 35 weeks and acupuncture at 35w1d and yesterday at my 36 week check up baby is NOT BREECH!!! Wahoo!!

I did the chiro adjustments 3 times and the moxi burning sticks 3 times (including one where my husband fell asleep and burnt my foot - joy!).

Here's hoping she stays head down. =)
