UC...please help me

So DH is pretty much dead set against a homebirth, but I don't see any other option. I cannot bring myself to delivery in a county hospital. I just can't. And we absolutely cannot afford a midwife or the private hospital.

I have really easy deliveries, so I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried about the "what to do afterward".

Mama, how are you going to get your DH on board with UCing if he won't consent to a homebirth with a midwife?

ETA: Start reading stories and books about UC! That is where you will get most of your what to do after information. There are some great blogs too. I'll see if I can find a link and be back.

A UC is just basically a home birth with no midwife or other medical professional present so I don't get it

I think you should just put your foot down- your vagina, your uterus...it might not be the popular opinion around here but I think when it comes to this kind of thing the mom gets 75% of the decision making and dad only gets 25%

He's just scared of something going wrong, and I don't blame him. But the County hospital here....OMG. It makes me physically ill to think about it. And they treat you like you belong there if that makes sense. Just because you're poor, you must be worthless.

Don't do it.

I can give tons of links to RECENT stories where babies have DIED during or shortly after a homebirth, even homebirths attended by midwives. It isn't often that something goes wrong, but if it happened to you, you would never forgive yourself. 24 hours in a county hospital is worth it to me to know that mom and baby are ok.

I'd like to see your statistics backing that up. That's nothing but a scare tactic.

Huh-uh. Until is it your DEAD baby. I will be back with statistics.

Really? i was a L&D nurse for years. I saw way more babies harmed in the hospital than at home.

And I can give you links to RECENT stories where moms or babies have DIED in the hospital! What's your point?
