Ya never know.

I was 3 CM dilated at 32 weeks and 90%. Put on bed-rest, at 36 weeks taken off and was 4cm and 90%...I went to 39 weeks, got to the hospital at 5cm and 100%, had a baby 12 hours later.

Re: 1.5 to 2 dilated 50 percent

at 36 weeks i was 2-3cm 20%
at 38 weeks i was 4-5cm 60%
I'm 40+5 today. No baby.
At least you have a head start

If you ever have had a vaginal delivery you start already at 1cm, your cervix never closes again completely like a primpara so you're technically 1cm pretty much forever after.

I think vaginal exams are a very poor way to predict the future. Only your baby knows the real answer to this one!

Cervical checks mean nothing and I am surprised that they even started them this early.

I walked around at 3-4cm dilated with all 3 of my boys from 36 weeks on. They were born at almost 42w, 39.5w, 41w. So you just never know! With my 2nd baby (the one at almost 42 weeks) I'd been having prodromal labor and was walking around mostly effaced and at a 4 for SIX WEEKS. We kept thinking...anytime!

Agree with the others that cervical checks mean nothing. Not sure why OB's place such a big emphasis on them I walked around for weeks dilated to 4cm and 80% effaced...still had to be induced...

Re: 1.5 to 2 dilated 50 percent

Drs. like to tell women they "won't make it to 40 weeks for some reason!" I don't get it? Dilation/effacement, unless you are in active labor (or having other issues) gives very little information about when you will deliver. I think they just like to get women excited! I've seen so many women go from closed or 1-10 in a matter of hours or from 4 or 5 to ten in weeks and weeks. It is fun to hear how far progressed you are but doesn't mean much. Sorry!

Re: 1.5 to 2 dilated 50 percent

I am always dilated 4 or so by 27-28 weeks yet all my babies have been term. It is silly for dr. to report on this kind of info and predict anything, b/c rarely can anything about babies arrival be predicted. There is no point to these kind of checks.
