<whimper, whimper, whimper>

MY BACK IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm about 35wks now and the only thing that seems to help is hot showers, and ONLY while I am in there. I obviously can't stand in the shower all day so I was wondering if any of you mamas had suggestions that worked for you? Thanks so much for any help you can offer! I am desperate!

Acupuncture/chiropractic

My low back/hips really killed me last time... this time, I have DH rub Traumeel cream (homeopathic) on my low back each night and massage it in. That stuff is magic, I swear. I used it at first because I needed to, but it worked so well, I do it preventatively now.

Light stretching as well, when you can... gentle arching/curving of your back (cat/cow in yoga terms).

OR just think... you're almost there!!

Re: <whimper, whimper, whimper>

I second chiropractic care.

Also, mild/moderate exercise like walking works wonders for me. Stretching is also good, but I find that I have to get some aerobic exercise in or I hurt.

I get mine at the health food store, but I know some of our local drug stores have it too. My SIL says she puts it on her kids bumps and bruises and it really reduces swelling, pain and bruising. I haven't tried that yet.

What about using a heating pad? I usually have mine on behind me whenever I'm on the couch.

This, I have 2 herniated Discs in my back, my back was a MESS during pregnancy, so much so I was on Bedrest at the end, the heating pad saved me. I also took painkillers, but that was a last resort....

Try some yoga, it helps. Have lots of pillows and blankets handy as props to support you (you don't want to over stretch and make it worse) and google poses for your hips and back especially. I don't kno if you practice at all (obviously) so I won't go into too muc detail here, but feel free to PM me if you want moe info. I hear you, it stinks!
