Thumbs up Impromptu Ethnic babywearing lesson!

Bad news, DD1 is in the hospital. Doing much better should go home today. DH came to visit with DD2 and brought her up in his Maya. Jerzies student nurse is Nigerian and came in to oo and ahh over the Maya and compliment DH on bwing! She said it's strange in her country for a man to "tote" a baby and that they do back carries much more. She even took the maya and unthreaded it and showed me real quick how to "tote" the baby on my back! And she even warned me to practice a lot at home with someone around before I try on my own! I love my progressive lil town! It's just so unexpected to have babywearing be so accepted in a hospital and then to even get an impromptu lesson!! Just had to share

That's awesome, Mama!

I had something of the sort happen to me, as well. I live near a Cherokee reservation, and some of the older ladies came up to me one day while I had DD in her Moby while at the grocery store. First off they told me it was great to see me holding my baby - and then went on to tell me that she had carried all 10 (!) of her babies on her back, using a bedsheet! (Much cheaper than a Moby - I didn't tell her how much I'd spent on it... hehe)
