We found something that worked!

Okay this has very little to do with being due in May but I'll try to tie it in. I like to stay away from a lot of other boards due to drama.

We found a cloth diapering solution that seems to work for us.. FINALLY!! I originally started with gDiapers and have been using pockets for quite a while. I got some prefolds FFS (not cheap but cheaper than buying them online) and decided to use an Amazon code to buy a large thirsties cover. Prefolds and covers work GREAT for my 2 1/2 year old. Wish I would've known that before I'd spent all the money trying things that didn't work!! I ordered two more covers (for practically nothing with coupons) and I think we are set now! Ideally he would be potty trained but with all my health issues I've given up on it for a while. So I am definitely going to try prefolds and covers on the new baby (was already planning to anyway.) Who would've thought the cheapest option would work the best??

Haha! Isn't that just the way it goes? Can you resell the pockets? Maybe you could get a good chunk back for them? That's awesome that you found a system that works great that's cheap... it makes them seem even better when you save $, eh?

I am going to keep the pockets I have because DH knows how to use them, lol! I only have three and one on the way anyway (I sold off everything that wasn't working already!) so it's not a huge deal. On top of that he's a BIG boy so I bet there's not many people who need the size he is in.

Re: We found something that worked!

I have a super heavy wetter. gDiapers were pretty terrible in general, I had hemp inserts and zorb inserts and those were great (I kept them for doublers) but the actual diapers just leaked no matter what I did. I think it's the inner liners that are the problem, doesn't matter anymore because there "large" was WAY too small for him after he had a growth spurt. I used Happy Heiny pockets and they were fine but some of them were leaky too. MF stinks.. so that was no fun.

YAY! Glad you found something that worked!

I bought some gDipes, but just couldn't get over the whole fastening behind the kid thing. I think I must just not be all that coordinated. LOL.

Re: We found something that worked!

it's exciting to finally find a system that works well for you! We love the simplicity of prefolds and we also discovered the flat love a while back Our stash is all cotton - prefolds & flats. And for covers - wool & dappi nylons. We mostly do wool but the dappis work great too and are super trim under clothes - not to mention they are super cheap!
Anyway, so happy for you!

Re: We found something that worked!

WOOOT! I totally always go back to kicking it old school with prefolds, flats, pins, snappis and pull on covers or woolies. It was the only option way back in the day when my oldest were diapered, and with all the fancy schmancy whatever now, and Ive tried them all, I just can't move away from my simple solutions. They work for every sized baby and can be adjusted for wetting needs and and and and and.

I love when someone stumbles upon what I feel is the obvious.

And when I read threads about $80 Goodmama diapers... well... :shakehead:
