Re: Intervention to end BFing?!
When I first read it, I thought maybe I misread. I thought it said 15 months, which I could understand a little more. I had tons and tons of people telling me it was time to stop as I approached DS first birthday. But never at 5 months!!!! That is just ridiculous!

http://www.kellymom.com/bf/bfextended/ebf-benefits.html I'm lucky that my DS is not a picky eater, but if he were a picky eater like many toddlers are, I don't think I would be as stressed out about it as many parents are because I know that he is getting all kinds of good stuff from my milk still.

![]() Your milk still has TONS of nutritional value and is all your little one needs until at least 6 months (no cereal, no oatmeal, nothing) and even at that point you don't have to start solids. My son didn't actually start getting into solids until he was 9 months old. Keep up the good work mama - you know what their issues are, don't make them your issues too.

Re: Intervention to end BFing?!
Wow, how rude! I would BF until he was 3 just to prove them wrong
You handled it really well BTW! I would have been mad.

Re: Intervention to end BFing?!
Sounds EXACTLY like my sister even down to the unattached problem and deceased mother. Those two were two peas in a pod and while I love them both my sister still has the detachments issues that my mother had. I got no support either.
Kudos to you for laughing it off! You just go right ahead and do what you want to

Re: Intervention to end BFing?!
Hopefully just by doing you will give them a different perspective, and maybe it will take the edge off their "disgustedness."
My IL's are quite uneducated about it. No one said anything directly to me, and the older my nursling got the less breastfeeding, nutritional benefits or lack thereof, even were mentioned. Now with nursling #2, I think they just leave well enough alone or can see how ODD has thrived and have adjusted their opinions slightly. |

Re: Intervention to end BFing?!
Wow, when I read the thread title I expected to read about an intervention over BFing a 3- or 4-year old. But only 5 months??? That is totally crazy!!! People think I am nuts when I say my 17-month old DS nurses before bed... Oh well!
Good for you, OP, for laughing it off and continuing to BF.
