Re: How many...
If you are going to CD full time and wash every other day (the recommendation) I would say 26-30 diaper changes worth to be comfortable and to allow some wiggle room on laundry. If you are at the point where you only use 1 diaper overnight, then 22-24 should be enough to give you some wiggle room too.

Re: How many...
I would say around 20 and wash at least every other day, if not every 1.5 days.

13 were enough for me at first, but I was washing every day. I watched for sales on pockets and built up my stash to a much more comfortable 26, which with my 4 mth old is quite comfortable for me to wash every other day and possibly go 3 days if I ever need to. Breastfed newborns poop frequently though so you need to chnge frequently to prevent rash.

Re: How many...
No way, you need way more than 6 for certain!
I'd say at LEAST 24 diapers, but a little more would be better because newborns can be little pee and poop machines. My newborn stash has 31 diapers total... I started out with 25 but then bought a few more because she turned out to be another preemie and I think the newborns will definitely fit her for a while, so I needed a bigger stash.

Re: How many...
2 dozen will get you through but 3 dozen it what I'd recommend to be on the more secure side of having enough diapers.
It depends how often you plan to wash. 3 dozen for every 2-3 days, less diapers if you plan on washing more often, like every day and a half. But just for convenience and probability that you'll stick with it, getting more is always a good idea so you don't get diaper washing burnout when you start.

Re: How many...
Some less expensive options for building up your stash would be:
-Prefolds -Flats -Bumgenius AIOs on sale at Cotton Babies for $10 ea. -There is a BOGO sale for Econobums covers (and each cover comes with a one size prefold) at Cotton Babies through Feb. $10 total for 2 cover/prefold sets, w free ship at Cotton Babies. -Dappi nylon pull on covers are reliable and are $5 for a 2 pack. -Check the FSOT here for deals on used diapers. (I know you already did that!) -Kawaii pocket diapers get good reviews and are something like $6 or $7 each, if I recall correctly. HTH! ETA: I just remember these fitted diapers for $8 each. http://hyenacart.com/mandismenagerie/index.php?c=11 And Baby Bunz sells Snugglebottoms which you can get for $24ish for a 6 pack.

Re: How many...
6 diapers with a newborn will get you through about half a day. When the baby is older, you can get away with far less, but in the beginning, I would probably say 24, minimum, if you want to do laundry every other day.
