Need some tips please!

So I just started using cloth diapers like...an hour ago. I've been SO excited to start. I put dd's first softbums on and it was really bulky. I received some help from here (thank you so much!!) and achieved a better fit. But then when I tried to put her pants on over the diaper they hardly fit and made her look like she had old man crotch . I tried a GroVia and it's a little better but still old man-ish. Are all cloth diapers this way? I'm so depressed. I was so excited to start and this has completely burst my bubble. Any tips? Trimmer diapers? Encouragement to continue transitioning to cloth? Please help! Thank you!

Re: Need some tips please!

we never had an issue with clothes because DS has such a skinny waist so he fits fine with his cloth diaper under his clothing but a lot of mamas have to size up a size on clothing. There are some trimmer options around. The trimmest thing I have seen is a pad folded flat (a flat is a large single layer rectangle of cotton) in a Flips cover, but there are other options too.

I consider SoftBums actually to be on the medium to slimmer side. Of our stash, it is the one I go to when I need to put DS in his "skinny" jeans.

Oh jeez, I'm in trouble. Dd has a small waist, but really big butt and thighs! Hah! Even the next size of pants hardly fit. Oh man...I'm so bummed...

Re: Need some tips please!

oh mama don't be bummed there are some slimmer stuff.

Bumgenius Elementals (an all in one one size diaper is very trim)
Flips with a flat as I have mentioned before are pretty darn trim

really any super trim insert (i.e. flat, hemp, bamboo) paired with a trim cover (usually a sized vs. one size with just the waterproof layer and not lined) is going to be trim.

btw, what kind of pod do you have in that SoftBums Omni??

The pod is a super dry touch micro fiber? Does that sound right?

Flips are very trim. A prefold trifolded in a Flip or Thirsties cover is also trim. I have some Alvababy pockets that are very trim also! Don't get bummed! Just try several out until you find one you love!

Re: Need some tips please!

If you like velcro and the All in one or all in two style I would recommend sized bottombumpers (not the onesize) or the Flip diapers from bumgenius. Ragababes are also trim like disposables, but they are hard to get right now. If you were open to using traditional cloth Flats are very trim with most covers.
