What to eat before GTT?

I have my glucose test tomorrow at 1:00. It's not a fasting test, so I am supposed to eat like normal before. Any good ideas on what exactly I should eat for breakfast and lunch? I normally eat lunch at like 11:00, so it will have a few hours to digest before the glucose yucky stuff.

Re: What to eat before GTT?

I didn't eat at all before mine but mine was pretty early...8am I think...my MW had told me if I wanted to eat, I could, but just to eat a high protein food. She had suggested bacon & egg.

Re: What to eat before GTT?

Mine was at 10:30 so I just had 2 eggs with a tiny bit of cheese in them for breakfast. I guess I don't know the results yet though!

Re: What to eat before GTT?

I didn't want to take any chances so I skipped food altogether until after the test. I was god awful hungry afterwards, but I got a 95.

"eat like normal" is a sure way to FAIL. Bad idea. Eggs, cheese, veggies, or meat. Nothing else. I don't even eat hardly any carbs the night before.

But the point of the test is to see how your body responds to glucose, not to pass or fail. If you tweak your meals that day to be totally different from how you normally eat, how will you get a valid result? If you "eat like normal" you will get a truer result. IMO it's more important to find out if your blood sugar is okay rather than trying to "pass" a test by cheating. Does that make sense?

I've got GD though, and didn't even need to take the test because my blood sugar was already way high.
