I want my water to break!

I've been having contractions since about 5am. I want my water to break so I know I can go to the hospital without being sent home.

Any tips???

BREAK BREAK BREAK!

Are you planning on an epidural or meds? If not I would try and stay home as long as you can...it's nicer to labor at home mama! Your body will get more done if you aren't being poked a prodded.

I don't know of any tricks...however I wouldn't do it anyways. Most hospitals will only give you 24hrs to deliver after your water breaks due to the risk of infection. So if he/she doesn't want to come by then, you'll likely end up with a c-section. I hope baby comes quickly for you, though!

No I'm planning to have an epi and I have to have a round of antibiotics too. But last time with DS I was in labor 44 hours and was sent home the first night.

If it breaks then I would know I would eventually be having her sooner than later and the hospital would have to keep me when I did go.

Walking will bring labor on faster.

I would try to rest, especially if you are expecting a long labor. Preserve that energy!

I could be totally wrong but I think I read some where that your water will most likely break if you are laying down. I know when mine broke it was the middle of the night with a full moon, and I was laying down. Not sure if that is true or not or even where I heard it but maybe laying down will help? Good luck!
